Saudi Salary After GOSI Calculator Widget
Turn a Saudi salary package into take-home pay. Enter basic, housing, transport and other allowances; the widget deducts the employee's GOSI share - which applies to basic and housing only - and shows what lands in the bank, plus what the same package costs the employer.

Adds a small script (what it does) that sizes the widget to fit its content, loads it lazily and keeps it isolated from your page's CSS.

How it works
Salaries in Saudi Arabia carry no personal income tax, so the only statutory deduction from a private-sector payslip is the employee's GOSI share. That share is charged on the contributory wage - basic plus housing - not on the whole package, which is why a generous transport allowance lifts take-home pay almost one for one. For a Saudi on the old law the employee pays 9.75% of that wage (9% pension and 0.75% SANED); for a Saudi who joined on or after 3 July 2024, the pension part follows the dated rate in force for the month, 10% since 1 July 2026; a non-Saudi or GCC employee pays nothing to GOSI from their own salary. Loan repayments, advances or other deductions can be added. The employer's side - its own GOSI share on top of the gross salary - is shown as the total cost of the package. The GOSI arithmetic is the same function used by A2Z's GOSI calculator.
Calculation method
- Gross = basic + housing + transport + other allowances
- Employee GOSI = contributory wage (basic + housing, floor and cap) x employee rate
- Take-home = gross - employee GOSI - other deductions
- Employer cost = gross + employer GOSI
Worked examples
Old-law Saudi package
Inputs: Basic 10,000; housing 2,500; transport 1,000
Result: Take-home SAR 12,281.25
13,500 - 9.75% x 12,500.
Non-Saudi package
Inputs: Basic 10,000; housing 2,500; transport 1,000
Result: Take-home SAR 13,500
Non-Saudis pay no GOSI from salary; the employer pays 2%.
An estimate, not a payslip. The employer's payroll and GOSI's records decide the deductions.
Limitations
- Assumes allowances are paid monthly in cash; in-kind benefits are not valued.
- Other deductions are taken as entered; employer-specific schemes (savings plans, medical co-pay) are not modelled.
- Expatriate fees such as the dependent levy are paid separately and not shown.
Where publishers use it
- A job board showing net pay beside each advertised Saudi salary
- A candidate comparing two offers with different allowance splits
- A relocation guide explaining why Saudi payslips show only one deduction
- A Saudi graduate comparing two Riyadh job offers
- A Dammam employer explaining payslips to new staff
Questions
Is there income tax on salaries in Saudi Arabia?
No. Employment income is not taxed for individuals. The employee's GOSI contribution is the only statutory deduction from a private-sector salary.
Why does my transport allowance not reduce my net pay?
GOSI is charged on basic wage and housing allowance only. Transport and other allowances are paid in full, so they add to take-home pay without any deduction.
How much is deducted from a SAR 12,500 Saudi salary?
With basic 10,000 and housing 2,500 on the old law, GOSI takes 9.75% of 12,500 = SAR 1,218.75; a SAR 1,000 transport allowance is untouched, so take-home is SAR 12,281.25 of a SAR 13,500 package.
Does the employer deduct GOSI for expatriate staff?
No. Expatriates have nothing withheld for GOSI; their employer alone pays the 2% occupational hazards contribution. Iqama renewal fees and the dependants levy are separate government charges, not payslip deductions.

| What the contributory wage includes Basic wage (commissions and percentages of sales or profits count as basic) plus cash housing allowance at the agreed amount; in-kind housing is valued at two months' basic wage. Transport and other allowances are excluded. Computed before deductions. How the two months spread over a month is not stated, so the widget asks for the monthly housing amount instead of valuing in-kind housing. |
