Photo Location & Postal Code Tools
Ten private location tools: read a photo's embedded GPS, map a whole folder, reconcile camera time zones, and look up postal codes, coordinates, admin divisions, distances and geohashes from an offline open dataset.
About these tools
The photo tools read only what is already in the file. If a picture carries EXIF GPS tags, you get the coordinates, the capture date, the camera and the altitude; if it does not, the answer is that there is no embedded location. Nothing here infers a place from scenery, faces, landmarks or a file name, because that would be a guess dressed up as data. The map preview is drawn locally as vectors - no map tile is requested, because requesting one would hand your coordinates to the tile server - and an OpenStreetMap link is offered only for you to click deliberately.
The postal tools use the GeoNames postal export under CC BY 4.0, vendored country by country and loaded on demand. There is no complete free worldwide postal database, and these pages will not pretend otherwise: each one shows the covered-country list, the attribution and the known gaps, including countries that publish only partial codes. When a lookup finds nothing, it says so instead of returning a plausible neighbour.
