Saudi Employer GOSI Cost Calculator Widget

How it works
An employer's GOSI bill depends on who the employee is and when. For an old-law Saudi it is a steady 11.75% of basic plus housing; for a non-Saudi or GCC national it is the 2% occupational hazards contribution. For a Saudi who first joined on or after 3 July 2024 it changes every 1 July until 2028, because the new-law pension contribution rises half a point on each side per year. The projection takes the month you choose as month one and prices each of the next twelve months at the rates in force on that month's first day, so a budget that runs from January to December is split into six months at the old step and six at the new, never blended into an average. The table lists each period with its employer rate and monthly amount. Salaries are added in full to give the total cost; other employment costs such as residence permits, medical insurance and the end-of-service provision are left for you to add.
Calculation method
- For each of 12 months: employer GOSI at the rates in force on the 1st
- Months with the same rate grouped into one period
- Total cost = 12 x gross salary + sum of employer GOSI
Worked examples
New-law hire, calendar year 2026
Inputs: Basic SAR 10,000; first month January 2026
Result: Employer GOSI SAR 15,000
6 x 1,225 (Jan-Jun, 19%) + 6 x 1,275 (Jul-Dec, 20%).
A budgeting estimate, not a GOSI invoice. GOSI's monthly bill is the authority.
Limitations
- Assumes the same salary for all twelve months; raises are not projected.
- Only GOSI is added; residence, work permit, medical insurance and end-of-service provisions are excluded.
- A hire in the middle of a month is charged by days of service; the projection uses whole months.

Questions
How much GOSI does an employer pay for a Saudi employee?
Under the old law 11.75% of basic plus housing (9% pension, 2% occupational hazards, 0.75% SANED). For a new-law employee it is 12.75% from 1 July 2026, rising to 13.25% in July 2027 and 13.75% from July 2028.
Why does the cost change in July?
The new Social Insurance Law phases the pension contribution from 18% to 22% over four years. GOSI applies each step on 1 July, so the employer share rises by half a point every July until 2028.
What does GOSI cost for an expatriate employee?
2% of basic plus housing for occupational hazards, paid by the employer, with a SAR 400 floor and a SAR 45,000 ceiling.
Should a headcount budget include end-of-service accruals?
Usually yes. Auditors expect a provision for end-of-service awards, typically accrued monthly from the Article 84 formula; this widget focuses on GOSI, so add that accrual, medical cover and visa costs separately.
