UAE Final Settlement Calculator Widget
Build a UAE private-sector final settlement the way the law does - component by component, each on its own basis: outstanding salary, gratuity and unused leave on the basic wage, notice pay on the full wage, other contractual dues and lawful deductions, with the date it all falls due.

How it works
A final settlement is not one formula. The widget adds up separate entitlements and shows each one: salary already earned and unpaid (entered as an amount); the end-of-service gratuity under Article 51, at monthly basic / 30 per day; cash for unused annual leave on the basic wage under Article 29(9) and Cabinet Resolution 1/2022 Article 19(2); pay in lieu of notice under Article 43 on the full wage, owed to the employee when the employer cuts the notice short or deducted when the employee leaves without serving it; other contractual entitlements such as a bonus or air ticket; and deductions the employer may lawfully make under Article 51(7). Article 53 requires everything to be paid within 14 days of the end of the contract, so the widget shows that date. The 30-day month in every day rate is Article 67's. It applies to private-sector employment governed by Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021. It does not apply to employees of the DIFC or ADGM financial free zones (their own employment laws set end-of-service rules), domestic workers (a separate decree-law), federal and local government employees, or - for service after enrolment - workers their employer has enrolled in the approved alternative end-of-service savings scheme (Cabinet Resolution 96 of 2023). Ordinary free zones are covered.
Calculation method
- Gratuity = monthly basic x gratuity days / 30 (Art. 51, Art. 67)
- Unused leave = monthly basic / 30 x unused days (Art. 29(9); CR 1/2022 Art. 19(2))
- Notice in lieu = full monthly wage / 30 x notice days not worked (Art. 43) - added or deducted
- Net = outstanding salary + gratuity + unused leave + notice to employee + other - lawful deductions - notice owed by employee
- Due by: last working day + 14 days (Art. 53)
Worked examples
Seven-year employee
Inputs: Basic AED 10,000; full AED 16,000; 7 years; salary due 8,000; 10 unused days; 30 days' notice paid in lieu; other 2,000; deductions 1,500
Result: Net AED 82,833.33
8,000 + 55,000 + 3,333.33 + 16,000 + 2,000 - 1,500.
Leaves without notice
Inputs: Basic AED 10,000; full AED 16,000; 7 years; 15 notice days owed by the employee
Result: Net AED 47,000
Gratuity 55,000 - notice 16,000 / 30 x 15 = 8,000.
An estimate under the Decree-Law, not legal advice. MOHRE or the courts decide disputed entitlements.
Limitations
- Outstanding salary, other entitlements and deductions are taken as entered.
- Does not judge disputes, absconding cases, or contract-specific penalties.
- Private-sector employment under Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 only.
Where publishers use it
- An HR team preparing a settlement statement for an exit interview
- An employee checking an employer's settlement letter line by line
- A labour-law blog explaining why gratuity and leave use the basic wage but notice pay does not
- An Arabic employment-rights portal
Questions
Is the final settlement just basic salary / 30 times something?
No. Gratuity and unused leave use the basic wage, notice pay uses the full wage, and outstanding salary and contractual items are whatever is owed. The widget shows each component and its basis separately.
When must the final settlement be paid?
Within 14 days of the end of the employment contract, under Article 53 of Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021.
Can the employer deduct from the settlement?
Only amounts the worker owes under the law or a court judgment, under Article 51(7). Enter those as deductions; the widget does not judge whether a deduction is lawful.
What if the employee leaves without serving notice?
Article 43 makes the party that does not observe the notice period pay the wage for the notice not worked. Choose 'Employee owes it' and the amount is deducted at the full daily wage.

| End-of-service gratuity rate Full-time foreign worker with at least 1 year of continuous service: 21 days' basic wage per year for the first 5 years, 30 days per year after (Art. 51(2)); pro rata for part years (51(3)); unpaid absence excluded (51(4)); last basic wage (51(5)). Adopted for A2Z calculators by owner decision on 2026-10-07 after review of Art. 67 and Art. 51; applies only to employment governed by the Decree-Law (rule ae.labour.scope). |
