Saudi Business Zakat Estimate Widget
Estimate zakat for a Saudi business from a zakat base you have already computed: 2.5% for a Hijri fiscal year, or the day-adjusted rate Article 15 of the Zakat Collection Regulations sets for a Gregorian or other fiscal year - about 2.5777% for 365 days.

How it works
Business zakat in Saudi Arabia is collected by ZATCA under the Implementing Regulations for Zakat Collection 1445H, for licensed activities and the entities listed in Article 3, for fiscal years starting from 1 January 2024. Article 15 sets the rate at 2.5% of the zakat base for a Hijri year. When the fiscal year is not Hijri, the rate is 2.5% divided by the days of a Hijri year and multiplied by the days in the payer's fiscal year; with the 354-day Hijri year the Regulations use, a 365-day Gregorian year gives about 2.5777% and a leap year about 2.5847%. A first period shorter than 354 days after starting the activity is still subject to zakat at the day-adjusted rate, while a last period shorter than 354 days on ceasing the activity is not. The widget applies only this rate step. Building the base itself - equity, certain liabilities, adjusted profit, less fixed assets and qualifying investments - follows Articles 21 to 26 and is outside its scope. It is a business tool, not a personal zakat calculator.
Calculation method
- Hijri fiscal year: zakat = base x 2.5%
- Other fiscal year: rate = 2.5% / 354 x days in the fiscal year
- Last period under 354 days on cessation: not subject
- Rounded to the halala
Worked examples
Gregorian year
Inputs: Base SAR 1,000,000; 1 Jan - 31 Dec 2025
Result: Zakat SAR 25,776.84
2.5% / 354 x 365.
Hijri year
Inputs: Base SAR 1,000,000; Hijri fiscal year
Result: Zakat SAR 25,000
An estimate of the rate step only, not a zakat assessment. ZATCA assesses zakat on the filed return.
Limitations
- Business zakat only - not personal zakat on savings, gold or silver.
- The zakat base is an input; additions, deductions and adjusted profit are not computed.
- Mixed zakat and income tax situations (foreign shareholders) are not modelled.
Where publishers use it
- An accounting firm's zakat services page for Saudi companies
- A CFO's quick check of the provision in a draft Gregorian-year budget
- An Arabic finance blog explaining why Gregorian filers pay 2.5777%
Questions
Why is the zakat rate 2.5777% instead of 2.5%?
Zakat is 2.5% for a Hijri year of about 354 days. A business with a 365-day Gregorian fiscal year pays proportionally more: 2.5% / 354 x 365 = 2.5777%, under Article 15(2) of the Zakat Collection Regulations.
Who must pay zakat to ZATCA?
Saudi persons carrying on a licensed activity, Saudi-owned companies (on the Saudi shares), licensed funds and the other entities listed in Article 3. Individuals not in business are not assessed; they may pay voluntarily.
Is a short first year subject to zakat?
Yes. A first period shorter than 354 days from the start of the activity is subject to zakat at the day-adjusted rate. A last period shorter than 354 days on ceasing the activity is not.
Does this calculate my zakat base?
No. The base is built from the balance sheet under Articles 21-26 and filed through ZATCA. Enter the base you or your accountant computed.
