Why natural pauses should not all be removed
A short pause after a question, a breath before an answer, a beat of comic timing - these are part of how people actually talk, not dead air to be scrubbed out. A podcast with every pause removed sounds rushed and unnatural, not polished. That is why detection is planned to target only unusually long stretches above a minimum duration, with padding kept at each edge, rather than stripping silence indiscriminately.

Can I preview the cuts before applying them?
That is the plan - detected regions are meant to be reviewable and adjustable before anything is actually trimmed, not applied automatically.
