How to make a festive card

  1. Choose a design. Each one is built from layers - paper sheets for Christmas, polished chrome for New Year - and the preview moves the way the card will open.
  2. Write it. Pick a greeting, add who it’s for and a few lines. Long messages shrink to fit; nothing runs off the card.
  3. Send it. Get a link that plays the card opening on their phone, or download the image in card, square or story size.

A greeting card maker for the festivals you send cards for

Sending a card used to mean choosing one in a shop, finding a pen that works and remembering a stamp. Most greetings now travel through a phone, and most of them look the same: a forwarded image with someone else’s words on it. This card maker sits between the two. You choose a design, write who it is for and what you want to say, and it builds a proper card around your words – then you send it however you already talk to people.

This page holds every occasion in one place. Switch between Christmas and New Year at the top of the studio; each has its own designs and greetings, and the preview changes as you type. If you already know the occasion, the dedicated Christmas card maker and New Year card maker open straight on their own designs.

Two ways to send it

As a link. “Get a link to send” gives you an address you can paste into WhatsApp, Messages, email or anywhere else. When it is opened, the card assembles itself on screen – paper sheets sliding into place for Christmas, chrome fading up for New Year – and then your words appear. The preview that WhatsApp shows says who the card is from, but not what it says, so the message is still a surprise.

As an image. “Download image” saves a full-resolution PNG in the size you pick: a 4:5 card for chats and feeds, a square, or a 9:16 story for Instagram and WhatsApp Status. On phones that support it, “Share image” hands the picture straight to your share sheet.

Writing a card people keep

  • Use their name. “Dear Priya” at the top changes how the rest is read.
  • Say one specific thing. A line about something you did together this year is worth more than a paragraph of general wishes.
  • Keep it short. The card fits up to 220 characters and shrinks the lettering to fit, so nothing runs off the edge – but three short lines usually read best.

Stuck for words? Each occasion offers a few starting lines you can use as they are or rewrite.

Designed, not clip-art

Every design is drawn from simple shapes in layers rather than pasted from stock pictures. The Christmas cards borrow from Nordic paper-cut craft – flat sheets in spruce, cream and cranberry, each casting a soft shadow on the one behind. The New Year cards are midnight and polished chrome, with the year itself as the centrepiece.

Privacy

There is no account. Each card is kept on our server under a short link (a2z.tools/g/…), its words signed by our server so they cannot be changed on the way; that also means anyone who has the link can read the card. Downloaded images are made entirely in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

Is the card maker free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on downloads.

Which occasions can I make cards for?

Christmas and New Year, each with three designs and its own greetings. Switch between them at the top of the studio.

What is the difference between sending a link and downloading the image?

A link opens the card on the other person’s screen with its opening animation and their name at the top. The image is a still PNG you can post or forward anywhere, in card (4:5), square or story (9:16) size.

Can someone change what my card says?

No. Each card link is signed by our server; if anything in it is edited, the link is refused and nothing is shown.

Do you keep my cards?

No account needed. Each card is kept on our server under its short link so it keeps working, and anyone who has the link can read the card. Downloaded images are made in your browser and are never uploaded.
