Your Snowflake
No two snowflakes are alike, and neither are you. Type a name and watch its own six-sided crystal grow - the same name always grows the same flake.
Your flake is drawn in your browser from the name alone. The window is kept on our server under a short link, with the names signed so they can’t be changed.
How your snowflake is made
- Your name becomes a number. The letters are turned into a 32-bit fingerprint, so every name - in any script - has its own.
- The number grows a crystal. It decides the spine, how many side branches sprout and at what angle, where twigs and little hexagonal plates form.
- Six-fold, like real ice. One arm is drawn six times around the centre and mirrored, the symmetry water molecules give every real snowflake.

No two snowflakes are alike – and neither are you
Every real snowflake starts as a tiny hexagon of ice. As it tumbles through the cloud, the temperature and moisture around it change from second to second, and each change decides whether the crystal grows long arms, side branches or flat plates. Because no two flakes take exactly the same path, no two end up the same. This tool borrows that idea: your name is the path, and the flake it grows belongs to it.
How a name becomes a crystal
- A fingerprint of the name. The letters are turned into a 32-bit number with a standard hash. Names in any script work – Hindi, Arabic, Chinese or Cyrillic all have their own fingerprint. Capitals and extra spaces do not matter, so “Asha” and “asha ” grow the same flake.
- The number sets the growing conditions. It decides how thick the main spine is, how big the central plate grows, how many side branches sprout, the angle they take and whether their tips flatten into small hexagonal plates.
- Six-fold symmetry. One arm is drawn and then repeated six times around the centre, each copy mirrored. Real snowflakes are six-sided for the same reason: the water molecules in ice lock together in hexagons.
- It grows in front of you. The spine reaches outwards first and each branch begins as the tip passes it – the way side branches form behind a growing ice dendrite.
Make it a card
Download your snowflake as a square picture for a chat or profile, or as a 9:16 story for Instagram and WhatsApp Status, with your name beneath it. The image is drawn in your browser at 1080 pixels wide and never uploaded.
A window full of friends
Start a snowflake window and send the link to your family, class or team. Each person who opens it can add their own flake, up to twelve, and the window fills with named flakes drifting past the glass. Every addition makes a new link that carries all the names so far, signed so nobody can change them on the way; send the newest link on. There is no account and nothing to install; each window is kept on our server under a short link, and anyone with the link can see the names in it.
Ideas
- A classroom window, one flake per child, for the last week before the winter break.
- A family window to open on Christmas morning, with everyone’s flake together.
- A winter profile picture or story that is unmistakably yours.

Frequently asked questions
Will the same name always make the same snowflake?
Yes. The flake is worked out from the name alone, so it is the same on every phone and every visit. Capital letters and spaces at the ends are ignored.
Do names in Hindi or other scripts work?
Yes. Every script has its own fingerprint and grows its own flake. The name is written under it on the card as you typed it.
How many people can join a snowflake window?
Twelve, including the person who started it. When a window is full, anyone can start a new one.
Is it scientifically accurate?
It follows the real rules that matter to the eye – six-fold symmetry, side branches at about sixty degrees, and plates that form at the tips – but it is a drawing, not a physics simulation of a cloud.
Do you store the names?
No. A window’s names travel inside its link, signed so they cannot be changed. Anyone with the link can see them, so share it with the people it is for.
