Discord Invite Button Widget
Grow your community with a clean Join our Discord button for your game, open-source project or creator server. Paste your invite and the button links to it in Discord's own blurple, without embedding Discord's server widget or loading anything from Discord until someone clicks.

How it works
The button accepts an invite in its short form (discord.gg/ plus the code) or long form (discord.com/invite/ or discordapp.com/invite/ plus the code) and always links to the short https://discord.gg/<code> address. Codes are 2 to 32 letters, digits or hyphens, which also covers vanity invites of boosted servers. A link to a channel (discord.com/channels/...) is refused with an explanation, because it only opens for people who are already members, and look-alike hosts are rejected. Make the invite permanent before publishing: invites created with Discord's defaults expire after seven days and the button would then lead to an Invite Invalid page.
Method
- Accepted: https://discord.gg/<code>, https://discord.com/invite/<code>, https://discordapp.com/invite/<code>; code = 2-32 [A-Za-z0-9-]
- Built: https://discord.gg/<code>
- Refused: discord.com/channels/... (members only), any other host or path
Worked examples
Long invite form
Inputs: https://discord.com/invite/riverside
Result: https://discord.gg/riverside
Both forms open the same invite; the short one is used.
A channel link
Inputs: https://discord.com/channels/123/456
Result: Refused with a note to create an invite
Channel links only open for existing members.
Limitations
- No member or online counts - those require Discord's server widget to be enabled.
- The button cannot tell whether an invite has expired or been revoked; check it after changing invite settings.
- Links to specific channels or messages are not accepted.
Where publishers use it
- An indie game's press kit page with a Join our Discord button for playtesters
- An open-source library's documentation footer linking to its support server
- A streamer's website pointing fans to the community server between streams
Questions
Why does my invite stop working after a week?
Discord invites expire after seven days unless you change it. When you create the invite, open Edit invite link, set Expire after to Never and Max number of uses to No limit, then paste that link.
Can it show how many members are online?
Not without Discord's server widget, which you would have to enable in Server Settings and which loads Discord content into your page. This button deliberately shows no counts; if you want them, Discord's own widget is the honest source.
Does a vanity URL work?
Yes. A boosted server's vanity invite such as discord.gg/yourgame is accepted like any other code.
Is it safe to publish an invite?
Anyone can join with it, so set up verification level, rules screening and a welcome channel first. If spam arrives, revoke the invite in Server Settings, create a new one and update the button.
