Works with
How it works
The address decides the platform: buymeacoffee.com/<name>, ko-fi.com/<name> and patreon.com/<name> (or patreon.com/c/<name>), each with or without www. The page name must be 2 to 64 letters, digits, dots, hyphens or underscores, and the platforms' own pages - login, explore, home, settings and similar - are refused so the button cannot point at a sign-in screen. The platform drop-down only sets the preview sample and is overridden by the link you paste. Text colour is chosen for contrast automatically: dark ink on Buy Me a Coffee's yellow, white on Ko-fi's coral and Patreon's black, and on dark pages the Patreon button flips to a light tile so it stays visible.
Method
- Buy Me a Coffee: https://buymeacoffee.com/<name> -> "Buy me a coffee" (#FFDD00, dark ink)
- Ko-fi: https://ko-fi.com/<name> -> "Support me on Ko-fi" (#FF5E5B)
- Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/<name> or /c/<name> -> "Support on Patreon" (#000000, light tile on dark pages)
- Ink colour = the more readable of white or near-black against the brand colour (WCAG contrast ratio)
Worked examples
A Patreon link under the Buy Me a Coffee preset
Inputs: network=buymeacoffee, url=https://www.patreon.com/riverside
Result: Support on Patreon -> https://www.patreon.com/riverside
The address decides the platform and its colours.
A dashboard link
Inputs: https://buymeacoffee.com/login
Result: Refused: link to your own page
Platform pages such as login are not creator pages.
Limitations
- Only Buy Me a Coffee, Patreon and Ko-fi; other tip and payment services are not accepted.
- No supporter counts, goals or progress bars.
- The button opens the platform; it does not embed a payment form.
Where publishers use it
- A free recipe or knitting-pattern blog with a Buy me a coffee button at the end of each post
- A podcast's website asking for monthly support on Patreon with a subtitle about bonus episodes
- An open-source maintainer adding Support me on Ko-fi to the project's documentation sidebar
Questions
Which platform should I choose?
Buy Me a Coffee and Ko-fi suit one-off tips and small shops, and both also offer memberships. Patreon is built around monthly memberships with tiers and members-only posts. The button works the same way for all three - paste the page you already use.
Does A2Z take a cut or see payments?
No. The button is only a link; payments happen on the platform under its terms and fees. A2Z sees an anonymous click count at most and never the amount, the supporter or their details.
Can it show how many supporters I have?
No. Supporter and income totals would need each platform's API with your account token, and showing a figure you cannot verify is not something this button does. Write a subtitle such as Keep the recipes free instead.
Why was my link refused?
Only your public page is accepted, such as https://ko-fi.com/yourname. Links to the platforms' login, dashboard, explore or settings pages are refused, and other payment sites are not part of this button.
