What is this tool?

The Rutube Video Downloader is a browser-based tool that saves a copy of a public Rutube video to your device. There is nothing to install and no account to create.

It is built for single videos. Channel pages, playlists, live streams and private or paid videos are outside what it handles — those either contain many videos rather than one, or require access this tool does not have and does not attempt to obtain.

How to use it

Open the video on Rutube and copy the address from your browser's address bar. It normally looks like https://rutube.ru/video/<id>/, where the id is a long string of letters and digits. Embed links in the form https://rutube.ru/play/embed/<id> also work.

Paste that link into the box above and select Fetch video. The tool reads the video's available formats and lists them, with the recommended option marked. Pick a video format, or choose audio only if you just want the sound.

The file is then prepared on the server. Progress is shown while that happens, and a Download button appears once the file is ready.

1. Open the Rutube video you want and copy its address from the browser's address bar.
2. Paste the link into the URL box on this page.
3. Select Fetch video and wait while the available formats are read.
4. Review the formats listed for that video — resolution, container and whether audio is included.
5. Choose a video format, or the audio-only option if you only want the sound.
6. Wait for the job to finish preparing, then select Download to save the file.

A typical Rutube address looks like this:

Paste that and the tool might list, for example, an MP4 at 1080p, an MP4 at 720p, a lower-resolution option and an audio-only track. A different video might offer only 480p, because that is all that was uploaded. The list always reflects the individual video rather than a fixed menu.

How it works

When you select Fetch video, the link is sent to A2Z.Tools' own download service. That service asks the video platform which formats exist for that address and returns the list you see — no file is downloaded at this stage.

When you choose a format, a download job is created. The service retrieves the streams and, where the chosen video stream has no sound of its own, merges it with a matching audio track using FFmpeg. For audio-only downloads the audio is extracted and converted where needed. The finished file is held temporarily so your browser can download it, and is then removed by the scheduled cleanup.

Because the work happens on the server rather than in your browser, the tool can handle formats a browser cannot save directly. It also means the URL you paste is processed by A2Z.Tools rather than staying on your device.

Limitations

Worth knowing before you start:

• Only public videos. If the video needs a login, a subscription or a payment, it will not work, and the tool does not attempt to get around that.
• Formats come from the source. If a video was only published at 480p, no tool can produce a 1080p copy of it.
• Single videos only. Channel, playlist, person and tag pages are not supported.
• Live streams are not supported. A broadcast still in progress has no fixed end to download.
• Regional and platform restrictions apply. If the platform will not serve the video to the download service, the download fails.
• Long videos take longer, and very large files can time out.
• Rutube can change. Extraction depends on the platform's current structure, so a video that worked last month may need the underlying tooling updated.

Privacy & your data

Here is what actually happens to your data.

The link you paste is sent to A2Z.Tools' own download service. That service — not your browser — contacts the video platform, so the platform sees the request coming from A2Z.Tools rather than from you.

The prepared file is written to temporary storage on that service so your browser can download it. It is removed by the scheduled cleanup that runs against those folders; it is not kept indefinitely and it is not published anywhere you did not ask for.

Ordinary web-server logs record request details as they do for any page. This page also serves advertising, which follows the site's standard cookie and consent configuration — see the site privacy policy.

No account is required, and no per-user download history is kept.
