UPI QR Code Generator Widget
Add a UPI payment QR code generator to your website. Enter a UPI ID, the payee name and, if you like, a fixed amount and a note, and the widget draws a code that Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM and other UPI apps open as a ready-filled payment.

Embed code
<iframe src="https://a2z.tools/embed/w/upi-qr-generator" title="UPI QR Code Generator by A2Z Tools" width="100%" height="540" style="border:0;width:100%" loading="lazy" allow="clipboard-write"></iframe>
A plain iframe. Works everywhere, including site builders that strip scripts. Adjust height if your content needs more room.
<div data-a2z-widget="upi-qr-generator" data-height="540"></div> <script async src="https://a2z.tools/embed.js"></script>
Adds a small script (what it does) that sizes the widget to fit its content, loads it lazily and keeps it isolated from your page's CSS.
Works with
How it works
UPI apps understand a payment link of the form upi://pay followed by the payee address (pa), the payee name (pn), an optional amount (am), the currency (cu=INR) and an optional note (tn). The widget checks that the UPI ID has the name@handle shape, that the amount is positive with at most two decimals, and percent-encodes every value so spaces, ampersands and non-English names reach the app intact. It only draws the code: the payer's app shows the name registered with the bank before any money moves, which is why you should always scan your own code once before printing it.
Method
- Link: upi://pay?pa=<UPI ID>&pn=<payee name>&am=<amount>&cu=INR&tn=<note>
- Each value is percent-encoded (UTF-8); the @ in the UPI ID is kept as is
- UPI ID check: letters, digits, dot, dash or underscore, then @, then a handle starting with a letter
- Amount: optional, greater than 0, at most two decimals; left out so the payer types it
- Payee name (pn) is required, as the NPCI linking specification marks pa and pn mandatory; note up to 80 characters
- Values percent-encoded per RFC 3986 (space = %20, not +)
Limitations
- It makes a person-to-person style request with no merchant code (mc) or transaction reference (tr); registered merchants who need reconciliation should use the dynamic QR from their bank or payment gateway.
- The UPI ID is checked only for shape; whether it exists and whose name it belongs to is known only to the payer's app, so always scan your own code before sharing.
- Payment limits are set by NPCI and each bank and change over time; the Rs 1,00,000 warning is a guide, not a check.
- Currency is always INR - UPI does not carry other currencies in this link.
- The code cannot confirm that a payment was made; check your bank or UPI app for the credit.
Where publishers use it
- Small shops, tutors and freelancers showing a payment code on their website or invoice page
- Temples, NGOs and community groups collecting donations with a fixed or open amount
- Event pages collecting a fixed entry fee with the booking reference as the note
- Accounting and billing blogs showing readers how to make a payment QR for their own UPI ID
Questions
Does this widget process payments?
No. It only creates a QR code containing your UPI details. The payment happens entirely inside the payer's UPI app between the two banks; A2Z never sees or handles money.
How do I make sure the code pays the right person?
Scan it with your own UPI app before sharing. The app shows the name registered to the UPI ID - if it is not yours, check the ID for a typo.
Should I set an amount?
Set one for fixed prices such as a fee or a product. Leave it empty for donations or varying bills; the payer then types the amount in their app.
Is there a limit on the amount?
Banks set the limits. Many cap a single UPI payment at Rs 1,00,000, with higher limits for some categories, so the widget warns above that figure.
