How it works

The banner is a one-line version of the countdown timer designed to sit above a product grid or inside a blog post. You set the headline, the end date and time with its time zone, the button text and the link. The link is accepted only if it is a full http or https address without embedded credentials; anything else (javascript:, data: or a bare path) is dropped and the banner simply shows no button. The remaining time is recalculated from the device clock on every tick, and at the end the headline and countdown are replaced by your expiry text.

Method

  • End instant = end date and time in the chosen IANA zone, converted to UTC
  • Shown as d / h / m / s from ceiling((end - now) / 1000) seconds, recomputed each tick
  • Button link: absolute http:// or https:// URL, real host name, no user:password, at most 2000 characters; opened with target=_blank rel=noopener noreferrer

Limitations

  • The banner does not know about stock, coupon validity or your checkout - it only counts down to the time you type.
  • The end time is fixed in the embed code; extending a sale means editing the code (or the builder preset) again.
  • No start time: the banner shows the countdown from the moment it is published, not from a future opening.
  • Clicks are not tracked; add your own UTM parameters to the button link if you want campaign figures in your analytics.
  • Visitors with a wrong device clock see a wrong time left.

Questions

What happens when the offer ends?

The headline and countdown are replaced by your expiry text ("This offer has ended." by default, or v_expired). The button stays, so you can still point people to the shop.

Why was my button not shown?

The link must be a complete http:// or https:// address such as https://shop.example.com/sale. Relative paths, javascript: and data: links are refused for safety.

Does the countdown differ for visitors in other countries?

Not when you set v_zone. The end time is fixed to one instant, so everyone sees the same time left.

Can I change the colours?

The button uses the accent colour you choose in the builder, and the banner follows the light or dark theme.
