What "age" means here

The time since the domain's RDAP registration event - when it was first created at its current registry, as that registry records it. For a domain that has changed hands or been re-registered after lapsing, this is the current registration's start, not necessarily when the name was first ever used by anyone.

Why people check this

• Buying an existing domain - age alone says nothing about quality, but it is one of several signals worth having alongside the actual site history.
• Evaluating a business - a domain registered days before an urgent sales pitch arrived is a different story from one with a decade of continuous registration behind it.
• General curiosity - how long a familiar site has actually existed.

What it does not tell you

Nothing about content history, past ownership, or whether the domain sat unused for years before its current use - a registration date is a fact about the registry record, not a history of the website.
